Telephones are devices in which we can connect verbally with literally anyone in the world and in the UK. Each phone in a home is given a phone number to which other people can call to get a hold of that particular person.

It is said to have been invented by Alexander Graham Bell in the year 1876. Phones now are cordless, smaller, and some even have a television screen so that the person you are communicating with can be both seen and heard. The screen actually shows who is calling before you answer the phone.
