Kyrgyzstan is also called the Kyrgyz Republic or Kirghizia. It is a former Soviet Republic. In 1991, this country gained its independence. This republic is landlocked. A former Asian soviet, it is located in west central Asia.

Kyrgyzstan borders the country of northwestern China. The terrain for the republic is quite mountainous. The capital of this republic is Bishkek. Early ancestors to the republic include a mix of Kipchak and Mongol descent. More than half of the population?s religion is Islam.
