South Korea is located in East Asia. It became a country in the year 1948. The southern half of the Korean Peninsula is where you would find South Korea. It is officially referred to as Republic of Korea. To the north, you find North Korea.

South Korea is the 10th largest economy by absolute terms while it places 11th when it comes to the terms of purchasing power. The largest city in South Korea just so happens to also be its capital city, which is Seoul.
