Antarctica is the continent that is closest to the North Pole. This continent is quite a cold place. It is covered by mountains and ice.

Antarctica is a very picturesque place. The continent?s surface is 95% under an icecap that measures one mile in thickness. It is the fifth largest continent. It is a very dry and cold continent. Antarctica is the least explored of all of the continents primarily because it is covered in ice.

It is quite beautiful and is used for scientific purposes.
