Estonia is located on the Baltic Sea in northeastern Europe. It was formerly one of the Soviet republics. Russia borders Estonia on the east side while Latvia is to the south.

Finland is to the north of Estonia, but these two countries only share a maritime border. It is part of the European Union as of the year 2004. Estonia gained independence in 1991. An interesting fact about Estonia is that is a part of the world?s largest economic zone.
