The Great Carolina Wren is the state bird of South Carolina. Georgia and North Carolina border the state. Tobacco, cattle, and hogs are part of the agriculture in South Carolina. The flag has 2 symbols on it. One is a crescent that matched the caps that the troops wore. The other design is a palmetto tree, which symbolizes the defense of the palmetto log fort on Sullivan?s Island during an attack by the British fleet.
