Massachusetts has a capital city named Boston. It became a state on February 6, 1788. Famous Bay staters include presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, Samuel Adams, Emily Dickinson, and Edgar Allan Poe.

A huge part of Massachusetts agriculture can be attributed to cranberries. Printing, publishing, and tourism are big industries in the state. The state flower is the mayflower. The lowest point in Massachusetts and third in the world is the Atlantic Coast located at sea level.

The Bay State is the nickname for Massachusetts.
