Kentucky became a state on June 1, 1792. Its capital city is Frankfort. The official state bird is the cardinal. Kentucky is 40,411 square miles in area. It is bordered by Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Part of its economy can be contributed to cattle and tobacco. Horses and soybeans also make the list. The state motto of Kentucky is, ?United we stand, Divided we fall.? The largest in the state are Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Covington, and a few others.
