An embassy is classified as the building in which ambassadors are housed. They also may work in these diplomatic buildings.
Their staff also lives at the embassy. Another word for his staff would be entourage. This term could also refer to the position of the ambassador or his assignments and primary function.
A consulate is the workplace and/or living quarters of a consul. Also refers to the term of office that a consul is in. The office and jurisdiction are also included in a consulate.
