Activities that are directly related to the aircraft industry or mechanical flight are a part of aviation. Lighter than aircraft models like airships and balloons are included. Fixed wing, also known as airplanes, and rotary wing, or helicopters also top the list in aviation. Aeronautics, a division of aviation, is the primary study of flight.
