The majority of LAN?s actually are restricted to a single building or a group of buildings. One single LAN can be connected to another LAN or a group of them. Radio waves and telephone lines are needed for this process to happen.
With LAN, users have the ability to share data from their computers as well as devices like a laser printer. Users can also communicate via email or through a chat room with each other too.
