Intranet is a private network on the internet. Its primary purpose is for the sharing of information internally.

The network is located through an organization that ideally uses the same kind of software that can be found on the internet. Information shared on this network could be the organization?s procedures and policies, announcements, or new products that are now available.

An intranet allows a company to share information with its employees without information that may be confidential being accessed by all internet users.
