Art Deco
Art deco is short for les arts decoratifs. This popular style of design was featured throughout the 1920?2 and the 1930?s. It included geometric and zigzag forms.
Bold outlines and colors, and streamlined, rhythmic patterns were also highly used. The various, outrageous designs were to reflect the rise of commerce, mass production, and industry.
Art deco was quite popular with jewelry making as well as architectural design. Home furnishings and architecture included wood furniture with chrome hardware or glass tops and rounded fronts applied to the home.
